Student Essays

From the first day a student walks into a classroom to the final day of a long and meaningful career, engaging thoughtfully with issues of access, inclusion, and equity in oral health care is critically important. These aren’t add‑ons to clinical skills; they’re part of what it means to provide safe, respectful, and effective care.

Students who are willing to reflect, question, and advocate help sustain and strengthen the mission of CSDH within their educational institutions and beyond.

2026 Essay Contest

The Annual Student Essay Contest is an opportunity for CSDH student members in oral health or related fields o make their voices heard on a critical issue: barriers to care for people living with disabilities.

New features of this year’s contest:

Reduced word count: 1500-2000 words

Later submission deadline: January 10, 2027

Increased cash prize for first place entry: $750
